Joomla versions 3.2.4 (bridge) and 3.3 released, new features added to CMS

The Joomla team recently released versions 3.2.4 and 3.3. The latest versions in the Joomla 3x series introduce several new features into the Joomla core platform.

According to the Joomla team, the latest Joomla update includes:
  • Improved password functionality
  • Performance improvements
  • Enables microdata
  • Optimized code
  • Faster load speeds
  • Security updates
  • More than 115 bugs fixed

In some cases, the 3.2.4 update acts as a bridge update for version 3.3, due to the minimum PHP version being changed to 5.3.10.

“Note that in order to update directly to 3.3 via the core update component,” the official Joomla release states, “you must be running 3.2.2 or later due to the raised minimum supported PHP version and the update system not supporting checking the server’s PHP version in older releases. Older 3.x releases will be prompted to update to 3.2.4 before being presented the 3.3 update.”
