SSL Assist covers generation of the CSR, and application of the SSL certificate. You are responsible for having the certificate issued from the vendor of your choice. purchasing an SSL directly through Managed.com.
SSL certificates are installed and applied through your Managed.com/PowerDNN control panel. In order to install and apply an SSL certificate, you will need to have completed the following steps:
- Generate a CSR
- Have an SSL certificate provisioned by a vendor of your choice (keyed for Plesk or Apache systems)
- Download a copy of the provisioned SSL certificate
Once you have downloaded a copy of your certificate, there are two methods to install the certificate to the panel - file, or text. Choose only one.
Installing the Certificate from File
- Log in to your Managed.com/PowerDNN control panel.
Please Note: If you have a dedicated server, you will use Plesk on your server. Do not use your Managed.com/PowerDNN control panel. Begin at step #3 of this article.
- While in your client area doing the following:
- Go to Services > My Services
- Select the product/service you wish to generate a CSR for, by selecting Active
- While in your product scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the Plesk icon, this will log you into the Plesk Control Panel
- Under My Subscriptions select your domain or you can select Subscriptions in the left menu bar to bring up a list of all your subscriptions
- Under the Websites and Domains tab, click SSL Certificates.
- If you are on Plesk Obsidian click the Advanced option on the screen that appears, otherwise skip this step
- Click on the SSL Certificate listing that you will be installing your certificate to.
- Under Upload the certificate files click Choose File next to Certificate and select the .crt file in the bundle sent to you.
- Under Upload the certificate files click Choose File next to CA Certificate and select the .ca file sent to you. If you were not given a ca file, you can ignore this step.

Installing the Certificate from Text
- Follow steps 1-5 from Installing the Certificate from File (above).
- Open your SSL certificate in a text editor. Depending on your certificate type, you will have up to two files (a .crt and a .ca). Below is an example of SSL files supplied by GoDaddy. The randomized file is the .crt, while the 'bundle' file is the .ca. when opened in a text editor, the .crt file will be a single block of text, while the .ca file will typically have multiple blocks.
- Under Upload the certificate as text paste the .crt code block into the Certificate field.
- Under Upload the certificate as text paste the .ca code blocks into the CA Certificate field. If you were not given a ca file, you can ignore this step.
- Click Upload Certificate.
- Go to the Subscriptions tab -> (subscription name) -> Hosting Settings under the Websites and Domains tab.
- Check the Enable SSL Support box.
- Select the SSL certificate from the drop-down, then click Ok at the bottom.
- Your SSL certificate installation is complete! You can verify the SSL is installed and recognized using this SSL Checker tool.
