Domain Transfers – From GoDaddy

Please note: This article uses GoDaddy for explanation, if you need help from other registrars please contact your registrar’s support team on how to transfer a domain out
Additional Note: If you are planning on transferring a domain from another registrar you will need to verify the following criteria below:
  1. Verify your administrative contact information is up to date, as any and all emails attributed to the transfer will go to this email
  2. You will need to unlock your domain from the registrar, if you are unsure how to do this contact your domain registrar
  3. Cancel any WHOIS domain privacy or private registration

Transfer a Domain from GoDaddy

  1. Login to your GoDaddy account
  2. Select the domain you wish to transfer


     
  3. Within the settings tab select Transfer Out


     
  4. You will be taken to the domain transfer check list, you MUST complete steps 1 – 4 in order to complete the transfer, after verifying steps 1 – 4 select Continue with transfer


     
  5. GoDaddy will send an email to the administrative contact with the transfer Authorization Code (see image below for example)



    Please note: Do NOT give out or provide the authorization code to anybody else except for the administrative contact, if you do you could potentially have your domain taken from you
     
  6. This completes the GoDaddy section, the rest is through the Managed.com Control Panel

Transfer a Domain to Managed.com

  1. Login to your Managed.com Control Panel
  2. Once you login select the Account  tab

  3. Select Register New Domain from the Store section


     
  4. From the domain registration screen, select Transfer Domains Mode

  5. Type domain and select Check Domains


     
  6. Enter Authorization Code in the Extended Data

  1. Select Checkout

  2. Verify your order and select Place order
  3. After placing the order you will need to pay with a credit card on file or PayPal to complete the transfer request
  1. Once payment has been successfully received you will receive an additional email to the current administrative contact confirming the domain transfer and that you need to approve or deny the transfer with an email subject Domain Transfer Request for <Insert Domain Name Here >

  1. Select the link to approve the domain transfer

     

Final domain transfer approval at GoDaddy

Please note: This final process can take 15 to 30 minutes to complete as GoDaddy needs to receive the final request to transfer the domain to another registrar
  1. Login to your GoDaddy account
  2. Navigate to the domain manager
  3. From the top menu select the Domains dropdown and select Transfers


     
  4. Select Pending Transfers Out from the Pending Transfers screen


     
  5. From the same screen select Accept or decline, to start the transfer or decline the transfer
  6. You will see a final window to accept or decline the transfer, select Accept and then select OK to finish
