    Installing SQL Server 2012 Express with Advanced Services (x64)

    Installing a software package is the process of deploying the software onto the server.

    1. Install SQL Server
      1. Run the installer .EXE
      2. In the "SQL Server Installation Center" screen, click "New SQL Server stand-alone installation or Add Features to an Existing Installation."
      3. On the "License Terms" screen, check "I accept the license terms" and then click "Next".
      4. On the Product Updates scree, click "Next".
      5. Files will start being extracted which may take a few minutes.
      6. On the Feature Selection page, click the "Select All" button, uncheck Reporting Services, then click next.
      7. On the "Instance Configuration" page, select "Named Instance" and name it "MSSQLSERVER", then click next.
      8. On the "Server Configuration" page, put "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" (notice the NT <Space> Authority) in the Account Name box for "SQL Server Database Engine", then click next.
      9. On the "Database Engine Configuration," click on "Add...". Type in "Administrators" and press enter. NOTE: THIS IS AdministratorS not Administrator. and If this fails, then make sure machine name in "Locations" is defined as the server, not directory.
      10. Change Authentication mode to Mixed Mode and enter the SA password. Then click "Next".
      11. On the "Error Reporting" screen, click "Next".
      12. SQL Server 2012 Express should install, and you should be able to click "Next" until a Close button appears and the process is finally complete.
    2. General SQL Server Configurations
      1. Once installed go to start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2012 > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Configuration Manager.
      2. Expand "SQL Server Network Configuration" and then select "Protocols for MSSQLSERVER".
      3. For Each protocol, except VIA...
      4. Leave VIA disabled
      5. Set "Enabled" to "Yes" and then click "Yes" twice.
      6. Double-Click the protocol
      7. Right click on TCP/IP and choose properties.
      8. Choose the IP Addresses tab and under IP1 and IP2, Make sure the second option reads Enabled="Yes".
      9. Click OK.
      10. Click SQL Server Services and restart the SQL Server.
    3. Update the SQL Database Properties
      1. Click on Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2012 > SQL Server Management Studio
      2. For the server Name, type "(local)" and then press CONNECT.
      3. Right Click (local) (SQL Server.....) and select Properties
      4. Click OK
      5. For "Minimum server memory (in MB):" set it at 300
      6. Click the "Memory" Node
      7. Expand Databases > System Databases. For each database except "Tempdb":
      8. Click "OK"
      9. Under "Recovery Model" select "Full"
      10. Select the Options tab.
      11. Right-Click on the database and select "Properties"
      12. Go to Security > Logins > sa.
      13. Right-click on 'sa' and select 'Properties'.
      14. Uncheck "Enforce Password Policy" and then click "OK"
      15. Close Management Studio.
    4. Enable Full-Text Indexing
      1. Click on Start > Administrative Tools > Services
      2. Go to "SQL Full-text Filter..."
      3. Right-Click on it and select "Properties".
      4. Click "Start" and then click "OK".
      5. Click on the "General" tab.
      6. Select "Local System Account" and then click "Apply"
      7. Click on the "Logon" tab.
      8. Set the "Startup Type" to Automatic.
